Your doctor
Dr. Takahiro Shimizu
Director, BEA AGA CLINIC — M.D., Ph.D., Board-certified radiologist
“I see every patient myself — from your first consultation through to your follow-up visits. You will not be handed over to a salesperson, and you will never be pushed into a treatment you do not need.
Losing your hair in a country where you don’t speak the language can feel isolating. Please don’t worry about your Japanese — we will take the time to understand each other. Come and talk to me first, and decide afterwards.”
Can I be treated if I don’t speak Japanese?
Yes — please don’t let language stop you. To be honest with you: we are not fluent English speakers, so we use translation tools during consultations. It is not perfect, but we take as much time as you need, and we keep checking that we have understood each other properly. Nobody will rush you.
If you prefer, you may also bring a Japanese-speaking friend, or write your questions down in advance (this often works best for medical details).

Frequently asked questions
QCan I be treated if I am only visiting Japan?
Hair loss treatment requires ongoing use of medication, so it is best suited to residents. If you are visiting short-term, please discuss your situation at the consultation — we will be honest about whether treatment makes sense for you.
QAre the medications the same as in my country?
We use finasteride, dutasteride and minoxidil — the same active ingredients used worldwide. Medication in Japan is often less expensive than in Europe or North America.
QIs my visit confidential?
Yes. Consultations take place in private rooms, and the clinic is designed so that you are unlikely to encounter other patients.
Come and talk to us first — consultation is free
Ask anything, take your time, and decide afterwards.
Many people come simply to find out what is happening to their hair. That is completely fine.
The booking page is in Japanese — your browser’s translation feature works well on it.
